Boosting vs Ads Manager vs Power Editor
We get asked these questions all the time- “Whats the difference between boosting a post and running an ad?” and “What’s the difference between Power Editor and Ads Manager?”
Ads manager is where you run your ad campaigns from, and offers more advanced framework than simply boosting posts; for example, one feature of ads manager is you can choose what you objective you want e.g. clicks to website, page likes or post engagement. You can also choose where you want your ads to show- e.g. mobile newsfeed, desktop newsfeed or desktop right hand column.
Power editor offers a number of advanced advertising options that aren’t available in ads manager; for example device targeting (Android or iPhone only), custom audiences, lookalike audiences, and split testing.
Boosting a post allows you to ensure a much larger audience of your choice sees the post in their news feed.
Boosted posts are typically used when the goal is to achieve audience engagement such as post likes, shares and comments.
If you have a saved audience, you can do some great boosting. Without a saved audience, boosting is similar to throwing money at the boost button.
